Laboratory is equipped with four test benches for testing electric motors and drives in accordance with major international and European standards, as well as EU Regulations for the approval of electric drive trains intended for the propulsion of motor vehicles (R85 and R134).
Laboratory offers LAT-calibrated measuring instruments and auxiliary systems such as controlled cooling system for testing liquid-cooled electric motors.
The laboratory features a temperature- and humidity-controlled testing environment thanks to its air diffusion system.
The EML laboratory is the only facility in Italy conducting approval tests for electric propulsion vehicles (R85 and R134), as well as efficiency tests on electric motors (EN 60034-2-1) and power converters (IEC 61800-9-2).

The only laboratory performing efficiency tests on electric motors according to EN 60034-2-1 and on power converter (CDM) according to IEC 61800-9-2, as well as approval tests for electric drive trains used for motor vehicles propulsion according to Regulations (UN/ECE) n. 85 and n. 134.
The EML laboratory was established as an initiative by Raw Power Srl in partnership with former Reggio Emilia Innovazione. The facility offers testing services on electric motors according to Standards EN 60034-1 and EN 60034-2-1, accredited under ISO 17025.
Extension of ISO 17025 accreditation to tests measuring net power and maximum 30 minutes power on electric drives, according to Regulations (UN/ECE) n. 85 and n. 134 for the approval of electric drive trains intended for the propulsion of motor vehicles.
Raw Power Srl and the EML laboratory have moved to their new headquarters in Via Filippo Zoboli 9 in Reggio Emilia, increasing the available space for testing services.
Enhancement of laboratory’s services through to an investment of more than 200,000 € for the purchase of new measurement and auxiliary equipment, the installation of new systems and the commissioning of a fourth test bench for testing high-torque, high-power electric motors in a back-to-back configuration. The laboratory upgrade project was partially funded through the Emilia-Romagna regional call for supporting productive investments aimed at business innovation.
