The electric motors laboratory is equipped with a wide range of LAT-calibrated measurement instruments and auxiliary tools for testing electric motors and drives: power analyzers, torquemeters, ohmmeters, DC power supply, equipment for electric safety, infrared thermal cameras.
Power Analyzers
Main Features
The laboratory is equipped with three power analyzers for measuring and monitoring electric and mechanical quantities of the motors under test.
Two instruments are three-phase and LAT-calibrated for bench testing.
The third analyzer is a six-phase unit and it is used for efficiency testing on complete drive modules (CDM) and for measurements on electric motors mounted on the back-to-back test bench.
Torque Meters
Main Features
Each test bench is equipped with a precision torque meter for measuring and monitoring mechanical parameters.
Our instruments cover a torque range from 0.05 [Nm] to 3,000 [Nm] and are LAT-calibrated by trusted external laboratories.
The 500 [Nm] and 3,000 [Nm] test benches are equipped with contactless torque meters.
Ohmmeters
Main Features
The laboratory is equipped with two instruments for measuring electric resistance.
The milliohmmeter is used for testing the resistance of electric motors and is LAT-calibrated in order to comply with the requirements of the applicable standards.
The second instrument is a micro-ohmmeter, used for a more accurate measurement of resistance, for example on samples of metal sheets subjected to surface treatments.
DC Power Supplies
Main Features
EML laboratory is equipped with DC power supplies of various power ratings, including both low and high-current models, to support testing of electric motors and electric drive trains.

Electric Safety
Main Features
The laboratory is equipped with two instruments for performing of withstand voltage test on electric motors, in accordance with to clause 9.2 of Standard EN 60034-1, and insulation resistance test, in accordance with clause 18.3 of Standard EN 60204-1.
Infrared Thermal Cameras
Main Features
The laboratory is equipped with two infrared thermal cameras for monitoring the temperature of samples under test or verifying specific hot spots indicated by the customer or defined in a test specification.
Liquid Cooling System
Controlled Liquid Cooling System
The EML laboratory is equipped with a liquid cooling system for high-performance electric motors. The system is controlled in both temperature and flow rate. The cooling fluid can be either water or water and glycol.
